Mr. Purdie, The author of the queries, in your paper of the
8th instant, takes this opportunity of returning you thanks
for inserting them, and to beg a place for the following
verses; which, it is humbly conceived, are not unsuitable
for the times, when people seem to ridicule religion and the
professors of it: Witness Mr. Lloyd's poem called The
Methodist, and The Tabernacle Harangue in the Lecture upon
Heads, lately exhibited in this city.
  Arise, my tenderest thoughts arise,
To torrents melt my streaming eyes!
And thou, my heart, with anguish feel
Those evils which thou canst not heal.
